This project deals with the design of the coordinated image for a historic building south of Milan, along viale Giambellino, subject to a real work of redevelopment and recovery, with a view to energy efficiency and enhancement and conservation of its historical interest, promoted by the Job Farm association. The building, with a total area of 2,250 square meters and a garden of 400 square meters, includes the functions of spaces for training, laboratories, coworking, guest quarters, cafes and bistros, based on a concept of sustainability, social integration and innovation. The target group is composed of young people and adults, students, workers, unemployed and unemployed who benefit from work services, training, workshops, seminars and sharing meetings on work topics. A further request was to propose the furniture components of the spaces for one or more categories according to choice, in line with the coordinated image. The idea stems from some considerations about food waste, adapting to an innovative trend that is becoming increasingly popular, the No Waste. The space translates the philosophy of “zero waste” into material and design choices. In fact, most of the furnishings are composed of materials that come from the waste of unusual raw materials, such as coffee for counter stools, algae for bistro chairs or paper for hexagonal sound-absorbing panels.
