Laboratory abstract

The studio applies an actual, critical, and experimental approach, testing in which way the natural, physical, and ephemeral different design hypothesis could become some of the interiorscapes for the new urban future scenarios. It analyzes and designs the relationships between sport, entertainment, psycho-physical well-being, and the natural environment, in Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The various scenarios offer the poetics of a storytelling with the juxtaposition and layering of smaller designs into a whole.

Delta project is a design proposal for the park of Monza, specifically for the Autodromo. After a thorough analysis of the site, we noticed a strong fragmentation of the park that doesn’t allow the visitor a continuous and immersive experience. Movement, continuity, interrelation, wandering, and aggregation are the five key elements we imagined to guide us through our intervention. In the unique landscape of the park, river Lambro, that flows in the upper part, inspired us in the project helping us to achieve our goals. Analysing different geometrical shapes and concepts, allowed us to come up with our own reinterpretation of the river: a continuous path that connects and unifies the fragmented environment. Our vision for the park is to create spaces, satellite activities around the Autodromo, where people can enjoy the park’s unique landscape through different and spatial experiences. We worked through the different scales trying to use the DLA fractal condition as main source of inspiration.
