Laboratory abstract

The laboratory is born from the visual paradox of dispercussion. The students virtually immersed themselves in nine optics of interior desperception: visual alterations through which to observe the space, analyze it and reinterpret it. They approached the people who live these realities, they met them, interviewed them, with the intent to deepen them and to understand some aspects of their life. Students have transversally investigated the desperceived space or evoking the atmosphere or proposing design solutions to support the people living these realities. From this study a system of three design artifacts was born: a 360 ° book as a tool for analyzing the desperceived space; a book-space, or a prelude to the interior design; finally a diary telling the whole creative process.

The project illustrates the evolution of child’s vision over the first year of life. The human vision faces up such an important evolution in the first twelve months of development that the project aims to recall this forgotten memory to the adult mind. The 360° book leads the reader through blurred images printed on acetate, involving him in an effort of associations. The project idea consists of an analogy between the human eye and the photographic lens, making the evocation of such disperception unmistakable. The space book instead recreates the disperception through the shadows. In the concept it has the intent to represent the typical day of a newborn recreating scenes that he could witness. The space book concerns a stage of visual development, which covers only the first two months of life.
