Laboratory abstract

Visual disperceptions of interiors. The students were virtually immersed into nine visual disperceptions of interiors: optical alterations through which to observe, analyze and reinterpret space. Many of them met people for whom this is a daily reality, conducting interviews to better understand certain aspects of their life. The students then elaborated the concept of disperceived space either by evoking its atmospheres or by designing solutions to struggles faced by those affected by such conditions. The study evolved into a system of two design objects: a Wunderbook, that is a prelude to the interior design project, and finally a systematic diary outlining the entire creative process.

The main goal of the book “The Waiting” is to explain the experience of migraine with aura. The design idea shows on one side of the book a subjective visual disturbance, while on the other side the experience caused by migraine is contextualized within the “Museo del Novecento” in Milan, through visually altered masterpieces.
