Laboratory abstract

The aim of the workshop course is to provide insights of the disciplines of the Design, of the Representation and of the Tools & Techniques in all of their particularities. During the course there will be theoretical as well as practical lessons, in which the knowledge acquired during the course will be applied when doing exercises in class. The workshop atmosphere is created by a continuous dialogue between students and professors, that allows personal and technical growth to the students. The module called “Modelli” (Models) will be completed with specific exercises. In the final part of the workshop course the students will choose some projects/themes (selected by the professors) that will become the basis on which they will apply their acquired knowledge: the students will be asked to produce some papers (drawings) and models according to specific criteria given by the professors.

VATICAN CHAPELS, EDUARDO SOUTO DE MOURA, 16 TH INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION- The chapel is made of some blocks of Vicenza stone overlapping each other. These are left to their natural state on the outer side of the structure, but inside they are smooth. The main space is partially covered and hosts a very simple altar, behind this we can find a cross created by two thin slots. 2. VATICAN CHAPELS, FRANCESCO CELLINI, 16 TH INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE EXHIBITION – The main features of the projects are thin geometrical items: an ‘empty’ parallelepiped (horizontally placed) creates two spaces for the seats, crossed by a vertical parallelepiped that creates the place for the altar. The structure is covered both inside and outside by porcelain tiles.
