Laboratory abstract

The aim of the workshop is to consider the value of interior design in relation to new sceneries, dialogues and interactions among the inhabitants, the city and its cultural and commercial spaces. Students designed a new vision for the fashion brand GIADA’s Concept Store, conceiving spaces dedicated to cultural and commercial storytelling, with a view to a multimodal approach to the project dealing with both the physical and the digital issue and exploring the contemporary relationship between interiors, the threshold and the city.

Gesture is the theme chosen to address the redesign of the concept store of Giada. In particular, the gesture of the wise hand which, starting from the collection and processing of the raw material, leads to the realization of the finished dress. This gesture is brought back to a sustainable one, which takes care of the other, through a caress or a gesture of love. These themes are naturally linked to the essence of the Jade Lady, elegant and feminine, dressed with light, sinuous and timeless shapes. We have included these features in the store design: there are many threads made with the raw materials of the garments and with which the customer must interact, to get in touch with the finished product and with that world of gesture related to it. The showcase is a preview of the interior experience, with interactive panels that are activated as the user passes and that again evoke the “good and beautiful” gesture scenario that is also taken up by some projections on the interior floor.
