The theme of the Laboratory is COVER, a collection of thirteen scenographic installation projects developed by groups of students inspired by soundtracks. Proposed musical atmospheres are a selection of works by heterogeneous artists, including John Cage, Brian Eno, Steve Reich, Radiohead, Bjork, Talking Heads, which suggest a space idea through text or articulation of the score. Workshop peculiarity is that students managed project development by working teams entirely remotely. In particular, the 1:20 maquette was sectioned into parts, independently developed by each group member, and then physically or virtually reassembled through photomontages to give the idea of the entire space. Design and implementation of projects phases are collected in a book and in a video that show atmosphere of the installations. FROM ANOTHER TIME is a set design inspired by Brian Eno’s “By this river track”. “This project leverages feelings induced by the song which inspires nostalgia and melancholy and on the idea of nature described in lyrics, creating a place out of time that transmits slowly sadness, restlessness and memories of a distant past.”
