Laboratory abstract

“The art interprets sciences. Narrative exhibitions and interdisciplinary explorations” The design studio worked on designing temporary exhibitions focused on the relationship between art and science: in particular between art and a specific branch of sciences (biology, robotics, ICT, environmental engeneering and so on). Each team dealt with both the curatorial part choosing the topic, artists and works of art, and the exhibit design part. We supposed that this initiative was included in the palinsext of the Miart artistic fair using the Padiglione RAI by P.G. and A. Castiglioni as a structure where the temporary exhibition is placed.

“Incognito – the interactions of the psyche” is a project born from the intersection between art and science, precisely between art and neuropsychology. Artists’ works have been chosen whenever they wanted to investigate the links between such different disciplines. The three sections of the exhibition are: dream, impulse and memory, which, as in a musical canon, give a progressive unique symphony to the whole context, built on three different levels. The focal point of the exhibition and the interpretation of the entire pavilion is “Angolo Scontento” by Francesco Arena. The work is recalled by the internal lines, by the steps on the zero floor and the walkways on the first floor, and by the external ones, by the corten balconies and the bench below. The environment, enclosed ina black glass cage, is divided exclusively by a longitudinal partition in etched glass, such as not to allow an immediate reading of what lies beyond it.
