Laboratory abstract

In the middle of four public squares in Tokyo, the Vatican City, Mexico City and Copenhagen, students are asked to design "Radure d'Interni" by subtraction from a green volume. These explore the threshold between the outside and the inside, relating the activation of urban functional spaces to a specific cultural context, within an artificial wilderness.

Picture yourself in an immense forest of birch trees, when a unique landscape stands out in front of you: a large stretch of sand with bright colors, where you can relax while drinking something cool or playing with your friends. This is Sandscape: a temporary installation which recreates two different desert environments within two transparent pneumatic structures, surrounded by a birch forest. The installation is located in Ofelia Beach, Copenhagen, an important meeting point of the danish capital. Sand is the main theme of the project. This element allows users to immerse themselves in a space out of the ordinary. Glades recreate the environment and the atmosphere of the deserts: the first one, characterized by a red-orange sand, which hosts a bar service and the second one, where you can practice different sports surrounded by white sand. The aim of the project is to create an innovative experience, giving the visitor the opportunity to know environments and scenarios totally different from those that can be found in the urban context.
